New Leadership Council Members
We are pleased to annouce that Ms. Marlys Berry, Director of Senior Adult Ministries of St. Luke's United Methodist Church and Ms. Barbara Davis, Assistant Deputy Director, Intellectual Disabilities Authority Services, Mental Health Retardation Authority of Harris County have joined the Leadership Council. Both women are active leaders in their communities and will bring a wealth of expertise to the group. We are most fortunate to have both individuals.
Consumer Advisory Council (CAC)
The Consumer Advisory Council re-convened for the first time since the transition to United Way of Greater Houston on Monday, October 21, 2013, 11:30am-1:00P.M. The meeting was held at the United Way of Greater Houston. If you are interested in becoming a member of the Consumer Advisory Council, please contact Elizabeth DeLozier at 713-685-2816.
Care for Elders is pleased to welcome Tammy Mermelstein! Tammy will be leading the Innovation and Access and Coordination efforts at Care for Elders.
Tammy is a JD from the University of Miami and an MSW from Georgia State University. For the last six years, she has served as the Director of Adult Programs at Skills for Living, where she developed and implemented award-winning financial literacy and life skills programming that has served more than 3,000 individuals, including hundreds of older adults, and secured resources of nearly $400,000 over the last two years to scale programming. Tammy has a strong advocacy and policy background and an outstanding track record with collaborations, most notably United Way of Greater Houston THRIVE, Bank On Houston, and the Alliance for Economic Inclusion. She has been honored with the 2011 Pioneer Award Winner by the Alliance for Economic Inclusion and the 2012 Rising Star Award by the League of Women Voters, among other awards. Tammy’s combination of systems-level thinking, innovation and relationship-building is exceptional, and she will be a great asset to our team.
