On Thursday, July 26 2012, Care for Elders celebrated its 10th Anniversary of successful partnership and efforts to improve the quality of life for older adults and their families. The celebration included presentations giving an overview of Care for Elders history, milestones and future. The celebration also served as a tribute to Jane Bavineau who has served as Care for Elders' Executive Director since its inception. "The joyous celebration with our valued members and partners was a memorable way to mark a truly unique organization," said Lynda Collins, chair of the Care for Elders Leadership Council.
The room was filled with supportive funders who have sustained Care for Elders work, individual partners, representatives of partner organizations, and other collaborating organizations/groups. With a tireless planning committee and efforts made by all, the afternoon was a success! Special thanks to United Way of Greater Houston, who serves as Care for Elders headquarters and fiscal sponsor, for hosting the celebration and for its continuous support.
Care for Elders is committed to continue informing public policy and influencing community practice to increase access to services, improve quality of care, and enhance the quality of life for older adults and their families. United Way of Greater Houston enables Care for Elders to continue its instrumental programs that have been established, and begin more community conversations to advocate and engage the community in the issues. "Improving the lives of Houston's older adults and their families will continue to be our sole purpose," said Lynda Collins. "To continue this ever-increasing effort, we are looking for new members and partners who share our passion and commitment." Collaborating within the partnership and developing a new strategic plan sets Care for Elders' up for another successful 10 years.
