Learn how other local and state advocacy groups are impacting the long-term care system through their legislative work.

One Voice is a network of public, private and non-profit organizations in the Greater Houston Area working together to ensure that the health and human service needs of all Texans are addressed in legislative, regulatory, funding and other public policy initiatives.

The Texas Silver-Haired Legislature provides senior citizens an opportunity to become directly involved in the legislative process. Here a forum for older citizens has been established to debate issues and establish priorities based on the result of these discussions.

The Texas Senior Advocacy Coalition is a statewide association of non-profit organizations and individuals advocating issues that affect Texas seniors.

It is the purpose of AARP-Texas to improve the quality of life for persons 50 and over and their families.  To achieve this AARP works closely with state lawmakers, in drafting legislation and arguing for or against proposed legislation, participating at regulatory hearings and educating members.

 

The Jewish Federation of Greater Houston's Community Relations Committee (CRC) is the social action arm of the Federation and plays a significant role throughout the community in helping to create strategic alliances between community groups with common goals; reaching out to the media, public officials, and policy-makers in order to ensure they have a clear understanding of the issues important to the Jewish community; keeping the community informed about issues that are pertinent to us as Houstonians, as Americans, and as Jews; and working diligently to provide a voice for those who have no voice with which to be heard.

Texas Public Policy Foundation is a non-profit, non-partisan research institute working to improve Texas by generating academically sound research and data on state issues, and by recommending the findings to opinion leaders, policymakers, the media and general public.

Center for Public Policy Priorities is a non-profit, non-partisan research organization committed to improving public policies and private practices to better the economic and social conditions of low- and moderate-income Texans through independent research, policy analysis and development, public education, advocacy, and technical assistance.
