2014 Direct Care Worker of the Year Nomination Announcement
The Direct Care Worker of the Year Award will be given at the 17th Annual Direct Care Workers conference luncheon on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 to recognize individuals who serve as role models for others, who go "above and beyond the call of duty," and/or who contribute to improving client satisfaction or quality of life for the seniors they serve. Individuals can be nominated for the award by their managers, supervisors, co-workers, or family members of clients. Click here to read the 2014 Direct Care Worker of the Year Nomination Guidelines. All nominations must be received by 5:00pm on Friday, March 31, 2014.
Laughter...the Best Medicine!
On Wednesday, January 29, 2014, Care for Elders presented Laughter Is A Powerful Medicine at the United Way of Greater Houston. Jeanette Lazarofsky, a Certified Geriatric Care Manager and Certified Laughter Leader, gave the presentation and provided educational information on the health benefits of laughter and the opportunity for the participants to experience the physical, mental, and social benefits of laughter.
